MONICA DREIDEMIE Biographical note Mónica Dreidemie, a dancer, actress, and teacher, was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1970. In 1991, she joined "La Noche en Vela," the Buenos Aires based theater company directed by Paco Giménez. As a creator, dancer, actress, and singer in the group, she participated in many international festivals, and was awarded several times by Argentinean national (Fondo Nacional de las Artes, Fundación Antorchas, Inst. Nac. del Teatro, Teatro M.G. San Martín, Fiesta Nac. del Teatro, etc.) and private institutions and foundations . Mónica Dreidemie further developed as a solo improvisational dancer, performing since 1995 mostly in Buenos Aires and NY, always accompanied by musicians such as Sami Abadi (electronic violins), Todd Reinolds (Steve Reich's Ensemle) and members of the Argentine company, De La Guarda among many others. She performed with Meredith Monk and has studied voice with Jeanette Lovetri. In 2007 she joined Zendora Dance Company, NY. Over the past 27 years, Dreidemie has studied various dance techniques including Ballet, Contemporary Dance (Graham, Cunningham, German technique), Contact Improvisation, Release Technique, Butoh Dance and Fedora Aberastury Movement Technique which she has taught since 1997. She also studied functional anatomy, choreographic composition and acting for theater and film. Her dance teachers in Buenos Aires and New York have included: A.M. Cigarrán, Cristina Barnils, Diana Szemblum, Renate Shottelius, Noemi Lapseson, Alma Falkemberg, Sonia Von Potovski, Liliana Belfiore, Oscar Araiz, Shelly Senter, David Zambrano, Trisha Brown Co., Cunningham Co. , Daniel Trenner, Alito Alessi, Akira Kasai, Eiko& Koma, Ko Murobushi (Dairakudakan), Yumiko Yoshioka, Takuya Muramatsu (Dairakudakan), Joan Laage, Morita Itto & Takeuchi Mika (GoosayTen Butoh Dance), Katsura Kan, Yoshito Ohno, Atsushi Takenouchi, Yuko Kaseki, etc. |
